Homemade Condensed Milk Recipe
Making sweetened condensed milk at home is simple and requires only a few basic pantry ingredients. This creamy, rich staple is perfect for desserts, coffee and tea, or even enjoyed by the spoonful.

Ingredients
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and sugar.
- Set the pan over medium heat and stir continuously until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Once dissolved, bring the mixture to a light simmer.
- Turn the heat down to low and cook for 30–40 minutes, stirring from time to time to prevent sticking or scorching.
- As it simmers, the milk will reduce and become noticeably thicker and creamier.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the butter and stir until fully melted and smooth.
- If using, mix in the vanilla extract at the end for added flavor.
- Allow the condensed milk to cool, then pour it into clean jars.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
