  • Yield: 12 fritters

Ingredients

For the Apple Fritters

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 2/3 cup (160ml) milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Vanilla Glaze

  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1) Mix the Batter

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
  2. In a second bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter until fully blended.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir just until incorporated.
  4. Fold in the diced apples gently.

2) Fry the Apple Fritters

  1. Heat the oil in a deep, heavy pan (or deep fryer) to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Drop 2–3 tablespoons of batter per fritter into the hot oil using a spoon or small scoop.
  3. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side, turning once, until the fritters are deep golden and crispy.
  4. Lift out with a slotted spoon and let drain on paper towels.

3) Make the Glaze and Finish

  1. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla in a small bowl until smooth.
  2. While the fritters are still warm, dip them into the glaze or drizzle it over the top for a glossy finish.

Tips for the Best Apple Fritters

  • Choose firm apples such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp to keep a great bite after frying.
  • Avoid over-stirring the batter—a few small lumps are okay and help keep the fritters light.
  • Fry in small batches so the oil temperature stays steady and the fritters cook evenly.
  • For the best sticky-sweet coating, glaze the fritters while they’re warm.

Enjoy!

These glazed apple fritters strike the perfect balance of crunchy edges, fluffy centers, and sweet vanilla glaze. Serve them fresh, or save a few for later—either way, they’re always a crowd-pleaser.
