Banana Pudding with Bananas Foster Topping
A creamy homemade banana pudding finished with a quick, buttery caramelized banana topping—perfect for an easy yet impressive dessert.

Ingredients
For the Banana Pudding
- 6 egg yolks
- 125 g sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla flavoring (or vanilla extract)
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 liter milk
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 20 ml milk (to dissolve the cornstarch)
For the Bananas Foster Topping
- 10 g butter
- 50 g sugar
- 1 banana
Preparation
1) Make the Banana Pudding
- Separate the eggs and place the 6 egg yolks in a large mixing bowl.
- Add sugar and vanilla to the yolks, then whisk until smooth and well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mash 2 ripe bananas with a fork. Add the mashed banana to the yolk mixture and mix thoroughly.
- Pour in 1 liter of milk and whisk until the mixture is evenly blended.
- In a small bowl, combine cornstarch with 20 ml milk, stirring until fully dissolved and lump-free.
- Add the dissolved cornstarch mixture to the main bowl and mix well.
- Transfer everything to a saucepan. Cook over low heat, whisking continuously so it doesn’t stick or form lumps.
- Continue cooking for about 10 minutes, or until the pudding thickens to a custard-like consistency.
- Divide the pudding into 4 small dessert cups. Let them cool, then allow them to set.
2) Prepare the Bananas Foster Topping
- Melt butter in a pan over gentle heat.
- Sprinkle in sugar, stir well, and heat until the sugar melts into a smooth caramel.
- Slice 1 banana, add it to the caramel, and gently stir until the banana pieces are coated.
3) Assemble and Chill
- Spoon the warm Bananas Foster topping over the set banana pudding cups.
- Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until fully chilled and firm.
Serve
Enjoy your banana pudding with caramelized bananas—creamy, sweet, and full of banana flavor.
